Hydraulic System Replacement
STEP was requested the renewal of the aft hydraulic system, with the challenge to maneuver the heavy piece back onboard, install and reconnect it.
Situation:
A hopper barge entered in shipyard requests the renewal of the aft hydraulic system, which includes steel works to give access to cylinder, disconnect the hydraulic system, remove the cylinder jacket and finally, maneuver it back onboard, install and reconnect it.
Challenges:
Huge challenge to maneuver a heavy piece, the cylinder have circa 40 T weight, from vessel cylinder room to pier and back to place after overhaul completed.
A lot of resources were necessary, as elevations means and efficient local planning, to well finish the job.
